Minister States Ministry of Defence Examining Potential Threat from Vehicles from China, with Personnel Advised to Refrain from Secret Talk in Cars.

An defence official has confirmed that the Ministry of Defence is currently examining the potential threats associated with Chinese vehicles, while staff have been advised to refrain from discussing secret matters in all cars.

Safety Advice for Defence Staff

In a recently aired appearance on LBC, Luke Pollard commented on claims that MoD officials have been instructed not to discuss classified material while riding in Chinese vehicles.

He stated that the ministry is “examining” Chinese vehicles within its fleets, but stressed that security is a issue in all contemporary cars.

Our department has a collection of tens of thousands of cars in the Ministry of Defence and Chinese ones account for a very small number.
However regardless of if you’re traveling in a vehicle from China or a car from another country, our instruction to our people is to avoid connecting Ministry of Defence technology into their vehicle, not to have conversations at a secret level in any car, due to the increasing threats of eavesdropping that are present in every single automobile, to restrict those confidential talks in secure locations. That’s a wise and reasonable thing for everyone concerned about safety.

After it was suggested that it would be wise for the MoD to stop using all cars from China, the minister responded: ‘That’s exactly what we’re investigating at the moment.”

Wider Defence Background

This announcement comes as claims from Scandinavian countries have alerted the United Kingdom to the existence of multi-purpose shutdown mechanisms in Chinese buses, which could allow the Chinese government to switch off public transport and cause chaos to public transit.

Furthermore, a Russian intelligence vessel was reportedly shining lasers at Royal Air Force aircrew, labeled a “highly dangerous” act by defence officials.

The broader defence situation underscores the significance of strong measures and vigilance in all aspects of government activities, from transport use to communication habits.
